Es muy particular la danza que Hulda Bittencourt creó y dirige desde hace treinta y tres años a través de su arriesgada compañía paulista Cisne Negro, la cual desde el inicio se animó a conjugar el ballet con la gimnasia.

NOVECENTO, Obras maestras del siglo XX

Con esta producción el Balletto dell’Esperia propone una nueva visión de algunas de las más importantes obras maestras del ballet del siglo XX, realizada por tres coreógrafos contemporáneos: La muerte del cisne, versión de Thierry Malandain (director del Ballet Biarritz); La siesta del fauno, creación exclusiva de Eugenio Scigliano para la compañía; y Los cuatro temperamentos, de Paolo Mohovich.

The role of the interpretive artist in the creative process is an oft-neglected part of the dance canon. This course sheds light on the muse’s role in dance history, focusing on dance masterworks from the perspective of the performers who inspired them. In addition to videos and class discussions, the class features guest speakers Lawrence Rhodes, Juilliard Dance Division Director, and Phyllis Lamhut, original member of the dance company of Alwin Nikolais.

 
Moving Movements: First Image-Campaign for the HAMBURG BALLETT.

"Moving Movements" is therefore the brand positioning behind the first image campaign for the company. Homenaje a Merce Cunningham con una fascinante muestra de su arte.

El festival de danza "Tanz im August" (del 18 de agosto al 3 de septiembre) de Berlín tiene este martes 24 de agosto uno de sus momentos estelares: el merecido homenaje que rinde Boris Charmatz y el Musée de la Danse/Centre Chorégraphique National de Rennes y de la Bretagne (Francia) a Merce Cunningham (1919-2009), una de las grandes figuras vanguardistas que expandió no sólo las fronteras del ballet moderno en el siglo XX, sino también las de las artes visuales y teatrales.

Mia Arbatova (1911 – 1990) fué una eximia bailarina, coreógrafa y profesora pionera del ballet clásico en Israel.

Nacida en Bielorrusia, en 1911, en el seno de una familia judía, comenzó a bailar a la edad de once años y enseguida se sintió cautivada por la magia de la danza. Comenzó sus estudios en la escuela del teatro Nacional de la Ópera de Riga.

This book is a beautiful edition, full of full-page color photos, and innumerable black-and-white photos of Alicia Alonso. The work also includes a tribute to two sisters, both dancers, Lorena and Lorna Feijóo. The former is with the San Francisco Ballet, and the latter with the Boston Ballet. Given the amount of text devoted to Ms. Alonso and the two sisters, the book should have been more appropriately entitled “With eternal love to my three Muses”.
