Ballets Russes 2009 April Concert

As we prepare for the Festival in May – the culmination of many events and much planning – our final pre-festival event will take place Saturday, April 4th at the New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall.

Ballets Russes 2009 is sponsoring a New England String Ensemble concert of music by composers whose works featured in the Ballets Russes. Conducted by Maestro Federico Cortese, the concert will feature compositions by Igor Stravinsky, Nikolai Tcherepnine, Petr Tchaikovsky and Anton Arensky.

The concert is scheduled for 8:00 pm. Before hand, we are hosting a Russian Tea reception in the New England Conservatory’s Keller Room, starting at 6:00 pm, with a conversation between Maestro Cortese and Peter Rand that commences at 7:15.

Tickets for the reception and concert are available online at www.ballets-russes.com

Petrushka Ball

We are pleased to announce that on Friday, May 22nd, we will hold a masked ball for those who want to dance their way into Memorial Day weekend. This event will take place in the beautifully renovated Somerset Club on Beacon Street, and promises to be a spectacular festival finale in an elegant setting, preceded by dinner. However, the capacity for the dinner and the ball is limited, and you might consider buying your tickets well in advance. Please take a look at the attached Save the Date for the Ball for more information.

Tickets will be available on our website beginning April 1st.

Anton Belov

Anton Belov, who sang for us at our Russian Revel last May, and again at the Tavern Club on January 13th, is performing a cycle of Russian war songs at the Concert Hall in the Boston University College of Fine Arts on Saturday March 21st, at 12:30. He will be accompanied at the piano by Geraldine Boyer-Cussac and will perform songs by Schumann, Mahler, Wagner, Britten, Glinka, Dargomyzhsky, Mussorgsky and others. The BU CFA Concert Hall is located at 855 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.
