Considerada por muchos como una de las leyendas vivas del mundo del ballet, la profesora Ludmila Kovaleva es una de las maestras más antiguas de la Vaganova Ballet Academy. Sus graduados incluyen a Diana Vishneva, Olga Smirnova, Olga Esina y Kristina Shapran, por nombrar algunas.

Agrippina Vaganova (1879-1951) was a distinguished Russian ballet dancer, choreographer and teacher. She created her own method of teaching ballet, a method that has influenced ballet pedagogy throughout the world. Her book, ‘Basic Principles of Classical Ballet’ (1934), which outlines Professor Vaganova’s ideas on ballet technique and pedagogy, is still regarded as the standard of ballet instruction.

Academia de Ballet Vaganova

Fundada en 1738 por decreto de la Emperatriz Ana I de Rusia, la Escuela del Ballet Imperial se convirtió en la institución educativa para el entrenamiento del ballet.

La Academia de Ballet Vaganova durante sus 275 años de existencia ha graduado una galaxia de bailarines y coreógrafos de renombre como Ana Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, George Balanchine, Rudolf Nureyev, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Natalia Makarova, Oleg Vinogradov, Yuri Grigorovich, Farukh Ruzimatov, Altynay Asylmuratova, Konstantin Zaklinsky, Uliana Lopatkina, Diana Vishneva y Svetlana Zakharova, sólo por mencionar algunos. En 1957, seis años después de la muerte de Vaganova, la academia recibió su nombre.
