Las peleas de los soldaditos con el personaje titular del aplaudido ballet “Cascanueces”, no suceden solamente en el escenario. Un comentario desafortunado sobre el físico de una bailarina principal del New York City Ballet, aparecido en el New York Times de Nov. 29, hecho por el crítico de danza de ese rotativo, ha provocado un alboroto de notables proporciones, en el que han intervenido la propia bailarina, otros comentaristas, y los balletómanos.

Stuttgart Ballet Celebrates 50 Year
Artistic Director Reid Anderson has announced details forthe Stuttgart Ballet´s 50th Anniversary Celebrations which will be celebrated with a threeweek long Festival from February 4th to 27th, 2011, in the Opera House and Kammertheater of the State Theater Stuttgart.
The Festival will feature current highlights from the company's repertory, three guest companies closely associated with the Stuttgart Ballet, a festive Gala, an International Directors Conference, an Alumni Reunionas well as activities for families and teenagers.

The Nutcracker Prince, Clara and The Sugarplum Fairy will ring the Opening Bell at NASDAQ on Tuesday, December 21 at 9:30am. The Opening Bell ceremony celebrates American Ballet Theatre’s all-new production of the Tchaikovsky classic.

Maya Plisétskaya había escogido a París, y solo a París, que a su vez la había escogido a ella, para festejar sus 85 años, en el Teatro de los Campos Elíseos. La gala, bien nombrada “Ave Maya” –en referencia al documental del mismo nombre, de Nikita Tikhonov, dedicado a una de las más grandes bailarinas de todos los tiempos-, fue presentada por la Fundación Maris Liepa y la Asociación “Los amigos de las temporadas rusas del siglo XXI”, con Sherwood Productions, bajo el patronato del ministro de cultura de Francia, Frédéric Mitterand.

The tragedy of Nijinsky
The career of Vaslav Nijinsky, genius of the dance, is endlessly fascinating. Anatole Bourman entered the Russian Imperial Ballet School at the same time as Nijinsky and became one of his closest friends, and for many years followed his development and career, first as a member of the Imperial Ballet, and later as star of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes.
