Si bien Rudolf Nureyev creó su versión de “Romeo y Julieta”(música de Serguei Prokofiev) en 1977 para el London Festival Ballet (para “competir” con la versión de Kenneth MacMillan; yo prefiero a la de Nureyev, y también respecto de la de John Cranko), fue en el Ballet de la Ópera de París donde la re-trabajó en 1984. Ahora, la Ópera Bastille acoge a esta monumental producción de un poco más de tres horas de duración hasta el próximo 30 de abril.
ETHAN STIEFEL TO WITHDRAW FROM PERFORMANCES WITH AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE AT METROPOLITAN OPERA HOUSE
Ethan Stiefel will withdraw from performances with American Ballet Theatre this Spring, having focused on duties associated with his final year as Dean of Dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Stiefel, a Principal Dancer with ABT since 1997, was scheduled for six performances during the Company’s 2011 season at the Metropolitan Opera House.

Sadler's Wells Associate Artist Sylvie Guillem has added an extra performance to her currently sold out run this July. The proceeds from this additional show, including the transaction fee, will be donated to the Japanese Tsunami Appeal, managed by the British Red Cross.
Widely recognised as one of the world’s greatest dancers, Sylvie Guillem stars in this new evening of work by three of today’s most important choreographers; Mats Ek, William Forsythe and Jiří Kylián. This Sadler’s Wells / Sylvie Guillem production features iconic dance-maker William Forsythe’s new duet for her and Paris Opera Ballet étoile Nicolas Le Riche.

Además de que bailan su “Giselle”, creó para esta compañía tan versátil “Appartement” (2000), y en abril de 2008 se incorporaron “La casa de Bernarda Alba” (1978, para el Cullberg Ballet) y “Une sorte de…” (“A sort of…”, 1997, para el Nederlands Dans Theater), dos títulos que tuvieron ayer 20 de abril en la Opéra Garnier la noche de “première” de esta temporada que los retoma hasta el próximo 29.

On 14, 15 and 22 April the Mariinsky Ballet Company will be staging premiere performances of Angelin Preljocaj’s ballet Le Parc which is being rehearsed by three couples – Diana Vishneva and Konstantin Zverev, Viktoria Teryoshkina and Alexander Sergeyev and Yekaterina Kondaurova and Yuri Smekalov.

In the new year, The Joffrey will present two mixed repertory programs, first featuring the U.S. Premiere of Wayne McGregor's Infra along with the Joffrey Premiere of William Forsythe's In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, February 15 – 26, 2012. The spring mixed rep program will feature a World Premiere by Val Caniparoli along with the return of Edwaard Liang's Age of Innocence and Jerome Robbins' In the Night, April 25 – May 6, 2012.

In 2011, the Dutch National Ballet will have existed for fifty years, which of course is cause for celebration. Fifty years of exciting, moving and breathtaking dance; fifty years in which ballet in the Netherlands has come into full bloom.
In those fifty years, the Dutch National Ballet has developed into a leading ballet company with a unique character and a rich repertoire. It is a company with a tradition for innovation and with dancers from all corners of the earth, which has given performances all over the world – from Amsterdam to New York, and from Beijing to Moscow.
