The Sleeping Beauty Children’s Audition 2012

The Hong Kong Ballet will present the beloved classical romantic ballet The Sleeping Beauty from 15 – 17 March 2013 at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall.

We are inviting talented young people to audition for roles in the production – successful applicants will have the chance to share the stage with our Company dancers and they will also meet and rehearse with the Choreographer Cynthia Harvey, former Principal Dancer of American Ballet Theatre and the Royal Ballet, in one of the rehearsal sessions.

Date: Sunday 16th September 2012
Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Venue: GR 3, 8/F Backstage, Hong Kong Cultural Centre

Please note the below guidelines. To register, you must:

For the Garland Dance:

Be a current ballet student (boy or girl) between 8 and 14 years old (on 16th September)
Measure between 130cm and 155cm in height
Exhibit exceptional classical ballet training
Be able to learn quickly
Be able to demonstrate confidence on stage, musicality and discipline as an independent performer.
Be able to attend ALL rehearsal and performance sessions (Please refer to the attached tentative schedule).

For other parts (Page Boys, Page Girls, Flower Girl & Little Squirrels):

Be a current ballet student (boy or girl) between 6 and 10 years old (on 16th September)
Measure between 115cm and 130cm in height
Basic ballet training
Be able to learn quickly
Be able to demonstrate natural acting (miming) talents and musicality
Be able to demonstrate confidence on stage and discipline as an independent performer
Be able to attend ALL rehearsal and performance sessions (Please refer to the attached tentative schedule).

* Final casting of the above roles will be determined by The Hong Kong Ballet.

Please fill in the Registration Form below and submit it by email to audition@hkballet.com before 5pm, Monday, 3rd September 2012.

Application guidelines:

Audition capacity: 300 candidates in total. Qualified registrants will be served on a first-come-first-served basis.
We accept applications via email (audition@hkballet.com) ONLY.
Each application email should register ONLY one candidate.
Only individual applications will be accepted.
You will receive an auto-reply upon submission of application. However, please note that this acknowledgement does not guarantee a place at the audition.
Late submissions and/ or incomplete registration forms will not be processed under any circumstances.
In the case of repeated applications, we will keep the most recent submission. You risk losing your place at the audition if you repeatedly submit applications for the same candidate.
Please notify your ballet/ dance school of your participation.

The Hong Kong Ballet’s decision on all matters relating to the audition is final.

The Hong Kong Ballet Guild Junior Members 2012-13 will have registration priority to audition, subject to candidates meeting the requirements listed above. Registration priority applies to all The Hong Kong Ballet Guild Junior Members 2012-13 and possibly new members who successfully registered for Membership on / before Thursday 30th August 2012. Announcement of the application result:

Please check our website (www.hkballet.com) again on Monday 10th September 2012 when we will post the results of the applications.

Applicants who have successfully secured a place at audition should send a confirmation of their attendance at the audition to audition@hkballet.com by Wednesday 13th September 2012.

Announcement of audition result: The applicants who have won roles in the productions will receive individual e-mail notification by Monday 24th September 2012.
