YoungArts, the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA), is set to honor two internationally-acclaimed artists, dancer and choreographer Desmond Richardson and actress and director Liv Ullmann.
Richardson will accept the YoungArts Alumni Award and Ullmann will accept the Arison Award at YoungArts’ An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala, January 16 at the Gusman Center and the Alfred I. DuPont Building. SunTrust Bank is Title Presenting Sponsor.

American Ballet Theatre’s 2010 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 17-July 10, will celebrate the Company’s 70th Anniversary and pay tribute to legendary ballerina, Alicia Alonso. The season was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

Cuarenta cartas avalan la candidatura entre representantes institucionales, asociaciones, academias y profesionales. Los Premios Nacionales Víctor Ullate (1989), José Martínez (1999), Ángel Corella (2002) y Lucía Lacarra (2005) apoyan la iniciativa, que también cuenta con adhesiones de bailarines como Igor Yebra, Itziar Mendizabal y Asier Uriagereka.

Es una novedad, no hay duda, que el ABT haya aparecido este otoño que apenas comienza, en una corta temporada de cuatro días y cinco funciones, en el escenario del Avery Fisher Hall, del Lincoln Center –dedicado mayormente a conciertos–, en vez de en City Center, su residencia de costumbre en esta época del año. City Center tenía planes de renovación (que no han sucedido hasta ahora), y el ABT se vio obligado a buscar otros lares.
