Ballet Director Ivan Liška announces the program of the jubilee season of the Bavarian State Ballet.
With three premieres and guest performances by William Forsythe and Pina Bausch the company will celebrate its twenty years of existence.

Benois de la Danse 2009
La entrega de los premios “Benois de la Danse” no se celebrará este año en Moscú, debido a que el Ministerio de Cultura de Rusia no tiene dinero para la celebración de esta tradicional ceremonia, anunció Reguina Nikíforova, directora general del programa de estos galardones.
La responsable de estos premios, conocidos también como los “Oscar de la danza”, señaló que el Ministerio ha visto recortado su presupuesto a la mitad, por lo que no puede destinar fondos a este acto cultural.

La compañía de danza holandesa Nederlands Dans Theater goza de una extensa popularidad y una gran calidad que brilla bajo el agudo ojo creativo y complejo de Jiri Kylián.
Coreografos de ideas avanzadas y atrevidos conceptos como Hans van Manen, Glen Tetley y Anders Hellström, han logrado concebir a lo largo de los años una agrupación en donde siempre se ha demostrado un alto grado de rigor en la técnica y, sobre todo, una excelencia en la ejecución de cada una de sus elaboradas obras.
Paul Lightfoot y Sol León, coreógrafos permanentes del Nederlands Dans Theater, cuentan con la provechosa experiencia de formar parte del grupo desde hace aproximadamente 22 años.
CORY STEARNS WINS ERIK BRUHN PRIZE
Cory Stearns, a Soloist with American Ballet Theatre, was named best male dancer at the Eighth International Competition for the Erik Bruhn Prize, held in Toronto on Wednesday, March 18.
Stearns and corps de ballet member Isabella Boylston danced the Black Swan pas de deux from Act III of Swan Lake and End., a new work choreographed by ABT Principal Dancer Marcelo Gomes. Gomes also competed for the Choreographic Prize, new to the competition this year.

Ballets Russes 2009 April Concert
As we prepare for the Festival in May – the culmination of many events and much planning – our final pre-festival event will take place Saturday, April 4th at the New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall.
Ballets Russes 2009 is sponsoring a New England String Ensemble concert of music by composers whose works featured in the Ballets Russes. Conducted by Maestro Federico Cortese, the concert will feature compositions by Igor Stravinsky, Nikolai Tcherepnine, Petr Tchaikovsky and Anton Arensky.
NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION AND JAZZ
New York International Ballet Competition, which appeared in 2007 at the Rose Theater, is pleased to announce that it has just finalized a 10-year agreement with Jazz at Lincoln Center.
NYIBC will hold the next five bi-annual competitions in the Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, with June dates in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017.
