George Zoritch, an international ballet star and former University of Arizona professor, passed away Sunday in Tucson. He was in his early 90s.
Zoritch was well-known as many things during his life, including a famous ballet dancer here and in Europe, a teacher, a Hollywood actor and a Broadway dancer.

Experience the Cunningham technique in person and take classes at the Merce Cunningham Studio through our Open Program. Merce Cunningham Studio is available for rental Monday through Friday from 8 PM to midnight and Saturday through Sunday from 6:30 PM to midnight.

New York City Ballet has announced the program for the Opening Night Benefit on. Tuesday, November 24 at 7 p.m., which will mark the Company’s first performance in their newly renovated home, the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The one-time-only program will feature all of the Company’s principal dancers and will open with Alexei Ratmansky’s Concerto DSCH, choreographed for NYCB in 2008.

El Dios de la danza no bailó
Los Ballets Rusos estrenaron dos obras, ‘Las Meninas’ y ‘Kikimora’, en su temporada donostiarra, en agosto de 1916. Sólo faltó Nijinsky.
En 1916, en pleno ecuador de la Gran Guerra, no había en Europa muchos teatros en los que pudieran actuar los Ballets Rusos, de modo que su principal promotor, Sergei Diaghilev, aceptó de muy buen grado la invitación del rey Alfonso XIII y no dudó en embarcar a toda la compañía en Estados Unidos, donde estaban de gira, y trasladarse a una España neutral y, en aquel momento, más próspera y tranquila que los países inmersos en la contienda.
