Se estrena en el Liceu, en versión de concierto, una de las últimas óperas de Richard Strauss. La Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC) y el Coro del Gran Teatre del Liceu, bajo la dirección del titular de la formación orquestal, Pablo González, serán los responsables musicales, junto a un elenco de cantantes especializados en el repertorio germánico.

American Ballet Theatre will travel to Muscat, Oman on the Arabian Peninsula for three performances of its full-length production of Don Quixote, October 26-28, 2011. The tour was announced today by Executive Director Rachel S. Moore. ABT’s engagement at the newly constructed Royal Opera House Muscat (ROH Muscat) of the Sultanate of Oman will represent the venue’s first performances by an American arts organization.

Final performances for American Ballet Theatre’s New York Summer Intensive Program are scheduled for Friday, July 29, 2011 at 12 P.M. and 4 P.M. at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, New York. The performances mark the conclusion of ABT’s 16th annual New York Summer Intensive, a five-week training program for dancers ages 12 to 22.
“El Lago de los Cisnes”, el más popular entre los ballets, ocupa la penúltima semana en el actual calendario del American Ballet Theatre en el Met. La escenografía, la más bella que ha tenido el ABT en muchos años, y una de las más bellas que puedan verse en cualquier teatro, como también el vestuario, se deben al gran talento del prolífico Zack Brown, cuya vasta obra abarca más de 150 creaciones para Broadway, ópera, televisión y ballet. Muchos recordarán otra hermosa puesta en escena de Zack Brown para el ABT: “Jardín de Lilas”, grabada para la TV y transmitida por PBS en un homenaje a Antony Tudor hace algunos años.

Propuestas que conforman una visión escénica muy interesante: “Los locos de Valencia” del Centre Teatral de la Generalitat, “Carmen” de Ramón Oller para el Ballet de Teatres, “Materia Prima” de La Tristura, L’Om Imprebís y sus “Orígenes”, “2011 Macbeth” de Ur Teatro, “1,618… Davinci” de Cienfuegos o la Orquesta de la Generalitat son los nombres propios de esta edición, además de una programación dedicada a la animación de calle.
