El connotado bailarín y corógrafo de origen francés, Michel Descombey, quien radicaba en México desde hace varias décadas, murió esta tarde a los 81 años de edad.
Según información publicada en diversos medios de comunicación, el considerado pieza fundamental para la danza nacional, fundador del Ballet Teatro del Espacio junto con Gladiola Orozco, murió a las 17:40 horas en la Ciudad de México.
2011 Telstra Ballet Dancer Award … the winner takes it all!
Chengwu Guo has been crowned the 2011 winner of the Telstra Ballet Dancer Award (TBDA). In an impressive coup he has also been voted the Telstra People’s Choice, scooping the 2011 TBDA pool. Notably, Chengwu is the first male dancer to win both the panel-voted main Award and the public-decided Telstra People’s Choice.
Previously, ballerinas Amber Scott and Stephanie Williams achieved this double-header feat in 2004 and 2009 respectively.

On February 10, 2012 in the Opera House of the State Theater Stuttgart Christian Spuck’s DAS FRAULEIN VON S. will receive its world premiere. This is Spuck’s third full length work for the Stuttgart Ballet – and his last as its Resident Choreographer. As such DAS FRAULEIN VON S. marks the end of an era for the Stuttgart Ballet: In September 2012 Spuck will depart the company after a decade as Resident Choreographer to assume the directorship of the Zurich Ballet.

The current season at the Bavarian State Ballet is titled “Very British!?” The season’s first première, Steps & Times, on December 22, 2011 implements this theme by presenting the work of two of the most prominent English choreographers: Frederick Ashton and Kenneth MacMillan.
El Teatro Real se vestirá de gala el próximo 5 de diciembre, para recibir en su escenario a las primeras figuras de la danza clásica de los teatros rusos, entre ellos, los que poseen las compañías referentes indiscutibles del ballet clásico: el Bolshoi de Moscú y el Mariinski de San Petersburgo.
