ETHEL WINTER, former dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company and Juilliard teacher, passed away on March 10th. Born June 18, 1924 in Wrentham, Massachusetts, Ethel Winter earned a B.A. and M.A. from Bennington College under the direction of Martha Hill, who was her first contemporary dance teacher and lifelong mentor.
Ms. Winter was a soloist with the Sophie Maslow Company, appeared in summerstock, TV, Broadway productions, and directed and choreographed for her own company.
Details of the new season, which features six world premieres and two works new to the company.
Ballet and dance productions to be staged as part of the 2012/13 season have now been announced. Opening on the main stage with Swan Lake, Kevin O’Hare’s first season as Director features six world premieres and two works new to the company. Three ballets will be screened as part of the Royal Opera House Cinema season .

El miércoles 14 de marzo tendrá lugar a las 19:00h. la presentación del Festival Bayreuth en el Liceu 2012 con Katharina Wagner, biznieta de Richard Wagner y codirectora del Bayreuth Festpiele.
El Festival de Bayreuth en el Liceu será el acto con el que se iniciará el bicentenario del nacimiento de Richard Wagner (1813-1883) que se celebrará el año 2013.

Valentina Kozlova, former principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet and New York City Ballet, now a prominent New York ballet teacher and coach, will present her Dance Conservatory Company in a program of original ballets and excerpts from ballet classics Raymonda, Flames of Paris, and others, joined by guests Craig Salstein and Alex Hammoudi of American Ballet Theatre, in a Spring Concert, April 1, 7 PM, at Symphony Space.

Cette saison sera riche en célébrations. En 1713, Louis XIV voulut consolider l'Académie royale de musique et institua une école de danse qui, depuis, perpétue la tradition du style chorégraphique français. En 2013, nous célébrons aussi le bicentenaire des grands réformateurs de l'opéra au xixe siècle, Wagner et Verdi, avecL'Anneau du Nibelung, dirigé par Philippe Jordan, notre directeur musical, ainsi que Falstaff et le Requiem. Nous accueillons La Fille du régiment avec Natalie Dessay et Juan Diego Florez, et une nouvelle Carmen, mise en scène par Yves Beaunesne avec Anna Caterina Antonacci et Karine Deshayes.

Eduardo Vilaró, sería el escogido, y asumiría el cargo en agosto de 2009.
