Queensland Ballet’s Artistic Director retires end of 2013

Queensland Ballet has announced that Artistic Director François Klaus has accepted an extension of his current employment contract through until 31 December 2013, at which time he will retire as Artistic Director. Following his departure from Queensland Ballet, François plans to continue to pursue his interests of choreography, filming of dance and teaching methodologies.

Queensland Ballet Chair, Adjunct Professor Joan Sheldon AM, said the Board and management commend François for the remarkable contribution he has made to the Company since joining in 1998.

Artistic Director Tamara Rojo Announces English National Ballet New Season 2012/2013

Tamara Rojo, the new Artistic Director of English National Ballet, today announced details of the company’s new season, talked about her vision for the company and introduced her new artistic team.

Speaking of her ambitions for the company Tamara said: “I want to transform English National Ballet into England’s most creative and most loved ballet company, embracing and commissioning brave new works whilst keeping the classics relevant. The English National Ballet will build on its great tradition to nourish artists be they dancers, choreographers, composers, designers or teachers.”

NY Premiere by Satellite Ballet, November 2

I do hope you can attend the Friday, November 2 performance by Satellite Ballet at the Lynch Theater at John Jay College at 8 pm.  The company will present two works choreographed by Troy Schumacher: the NY premiere of Warehouse under the Hudson and Epistasis, both accompanied by live music and multimedia projections.

Company dancers include Samuel Greenberg and New York City Ballet members Emilie Gerrity, Lauren King, Ashley Laracey, David Prottas, Taylor Stanley and Lydia Wellington.

Programa de mano comienza el próximo martes 16 de octubre con una pieza sobre la obra que ha inaugurado la temporada de ópera en el Liceu, La forza del destino, de Giuseppe Verdi. Es una coproducción del Gran Teatre del Liceu con la Opéra National de Paris. El libreto de Francesco María Piave está basado en el drama castellano Don Álvaro o la fuerza del sino, de Ángel de Saavedra, duque de Rivas, escritor que pudo asistir a su estreno en Madrid, en 1863.

The World Premiere of the Shostakovich trio by Alexei Ratmansky, the Company Premiere of Sir Frederick Ashton’s A Month in the Country and a new production of Le Corsaire will highlight the 2013 Spring Season.

Estreno absoluto del ballet Donostia 1813


Tras el gran éxito del ballet “Kai” con quince minutos de aplausos, ABBE ha encargado la obra al coreógrafo bilbaíno Jon Ugarriza.

Los bailarines del Barcelona Ballet, Ion Agirretxe y Cristina Casa protagonizan el ballet sobre la quema y resurrección de San Sebastián hace dos siglos. La Capilla de Música de la Catedral de Bilbao intervendrá en la pieza.

Las entradas para la 8ª edición de “Los vascos y la danza” están a la venta en taquilla y a través del servicio de venta de entradas por Internet de la BBK. Los precios de las entradas son de 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 y 55 euros

Víctor Ullate presenta dos estrenos absolutos en los Teatros del Canal con su nuevo espectáculo ‘Nexo Y Jaleos’

Nexo, coreografía de Arancha Sagardoy y Alfredo Bravo Y, de Eduardo Lao. Jaleos, un clásico de la compañía creación del maestro Victor Ullate con músicas de Igor Stravinsky, Gustav Mahler y Luis Delgado, respectivamente.

El Víctor Ullate Ballet – Comunidad de Madrid estrena su último espectáculo Nexo Y Jaleos en la Sala Roja de los Teatros del Canal de la Comunidad de Madrid, desde el  13 al 21 de octubre.

He aquí una flecha y una manzana.

Los días 14 y 20 de octubre vuelve al Liceu, en una adaptación de la compañía La Baldufa y con la excepcional música de la última etapa del compositor Gioachino Rossini, Guillem Tell, la historia del patriota suizo que guió a su pueblo en contra de sus dominadores austríacos y a quien obligaron a disparar una flecha hacia una manzana colocada sobre la cabeza de su hijo.

Appeal for a Worldwide Reading for Pussy Riot on 12 December 2012.

In the past weeks the Russian judiciary has missed the chance to end the infamous prosecution of Pussy Riot. The sentence in the first instance as such, and the fact that there was a trial at all, is a disgrace! It is another example of how Putin’s system is trying to shut up a whole generation of artists and keep them from expressing themselves in art, culture and civil society.

Boris Trailine (1921 – 2012)

 

El pasado 2 de octubre falleció en París el maestro y empresario de ballet Boris Trailine.

Hijo de un coronel de cosacos del Ejército Blanco de Rusia, nació en Grecia en 1921. Fue primer bailarín del Ballet de Montecarlo y actuó con diversos conjuntos. Desde hace varias décadas trabajaba con distintas compañías españolas por Europa y ha presentado a importantes figuras en nuestro país.
