This weekend is the last chance for students to audition for entrance into our elite Summer Intensive Program. Auditions take place at the Sarasota Ballet School in the FSU Performing Arts Center (5555 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota), this Saturday, February 19th from 2 pm to 4:30 pm for students ages 9 and up.
Auditions for students ages 9-11 will be held from 2:00-3:00 pm. Those 12 and up will audition from 3:00-4:30 pm. All are asked to arrive 30 minutes ahead of the start of this audition period to register/sign in. There is a $25 audition fee to be paid at the door.

Spanish Bach Dances at the Opera
The music of Johann Sebastian Bach will grace the stage of the Israeli Opera, but this time not in a concert performance. Rather, Bach's music will provide the sound scape for the program of the Compania Nacional de Danza from Spain, returning to Israel with works choreographed by its artistic director, Nacho Duato.
The National Dance Company of Spain brings to Israel Nacho Duato’s full-length work which is danced to a collage of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Jenifer Ringer will make a special appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Thursday, February 17 as part of an episode exploring fascinating lives.
Dès sa création en 1870, Coppélia ou la fille aux yeux d’émail connut un immense succès. Considéré comme emblématique du style chorégraphique français, il est resté depuis au répertoire de l’Opéra de Paris et a fait l’objet de nombreuses relectures. Dans l’adaptation qu’il propose pour le Ballet de l’Opéra en 1996, Patrice Bart revient aux origines littéraires qui ont inspiré le ballet, le conte fantastique d’Hoffmann, dont l’étrangeté avait été écartée par les créateurs, Arthur Saint-Léon, Charles Nuitter et Léo Delibes.
