New York International Ballet Competition (NYIBC) will celebrate the life and achievements of Ilona Copen, late Founder and Executive Director Emerita. The evening will feature performances by dancers from American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble, Joffrey Ballet, Limón Dance Company, New Jersey Ballet, and North Carolina Dance Theatre, including several NYIBC alumni, followed by a Dinner/Dance.
En el marco de la celebración que L'Auditori dedica este año a Robert Schumann, con motivo de los 200 años de su nacimiento, la OBC presenta este fin de semana sus Segunda y Cuarta sinfonías. Los conciertos serán dirigidos por el director titular de la OBC, Pablo González, y tendrán lugar los próximos días 18, 19 y 20 de febrero, (a las 21h, 19h y 11h respectivamente), en la Sala 1 Pau Casals, incluyendo así el ciclo de sinfonías completas que la orquesta ha dedicado a Schumann.

El próximo viernes, 11 de febrero, tendrá lugar el estreno mundial absoluto de la ópera La página en blanco, compuesta por Pilar Jurado, por encargo del Teatro Real. Compositora, cantante, directora de orquesta y productora, la soprano madrileña se convierte así en la primera mujer que sube al escenario madrileño un título lírico del que es responsable tanto del libreto como de la música.

Emerging Dancer Ballet’s brightest stars compete for the title.
English National Ballet is delighted to announce that international dancer and choreographer Carlos Acosta will join the panel of judges for this year’s Emerging Dancer competition at Southbank on Monday 28 February.The six Emerging Dancer nominees for 2011 are James Streeter, Ksenia Ovsyanick, Laurretta Summerscales, Max Westwell, Shiori Kase, Vadim Muntagirov.

American Ballet Theatre is the recipient of a $250,000 gift from music legend Prince. The gift, announced at a press conference held on February 7 at Madison Square Garden, will benefit ABT’s arts education programs. ABT Soloist Misty Copeland, who performed with Prince during his most recent “Welcome 2 America” tour, presented the check to ABT Executive Director Rachel S. Moore at this special ceremony. Gifts were also awarded to the Harlem Children’s Zone and the Uptown Dance Academy. Scholarship students from the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School joined other young students to meet the seven-time Grammy winner following the press conference.
