The World Ballet Festival is a triennial ballet gala inaugurated in 1976. The world's top ballet dancers from renowned ballet companies will unite at this prestigious festival to showcase the latest and brightest of the international ballet world.
The gala runs for approximately 5 hours with a "Funny Gala" accompanied with male dancers in point-shoes and ballerinas dressed like boys.

Ya están a la venta en Chile las entradas para el montaje “Pieza Chile”, de la célebre coreógrafa alemana Pina Bausch, quien falleciera producto de un cáncer el pasado 30 de junio en Berlín (Alemania), a pocas semanas de haber estrenado su obra inspirada en Chile.
El mundo de la danza se despedirá de Pina Bausch el 4 de septiembre con una ceremonia en el Teatro de Wuppertal, desde donde la artista renovó la danza moderna con sus creaciones.

ISABELLA BOYLSTON AWARDED PRINCESS GRACE FOUNDATION DANCE FELLOWSHIP
Isabella Boylston, a member of American Ballet Theatre’s corps de ballet, is a recipient of the 2009 Princess Grace Award. The Award, a Dance Fellowship, was one of four fellowships granted in the Dance and Choreography category. The Princess Grace Foundation-USA announced the annual awards on August 11 in New York City.
ANDRE PROKOVSKY
French-born choreographer, Andre Prokovsky, died on August 15th, 2009 after a long battle with cancer.
Andre Prokovsky was born in Paris of Russian parents. He studied ballet with Madame Nora and other famous Russian émigré teachers. However, unusual for a dancer, he made his debut at the Comedie Francaise in a Moliere play. By the time he was 18, he had danced with various French companies, but the seal on his future success was set on his career when he went to Moscow for the Youth Dance Festival and won a silver medal.

BALLET HISPANICO ANNOUNCES NEW EDUCATION LEADERSHIP
Ballet Hispanico Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro announced recently that Mercedes Pablos has been appointed Director of Ballet Hispanico School of Dance and Rachel Watts has been appointed Director of Education and Outreach.
Effective late July, and early August 2009 respectively, they will be exciting new additions to the Ballet Hispanico family.
