The Liceu opens its doors!
The Liceu opens its doors to all citizens wishing to visit the theatre. This provides the opportunity to bring theatre closer to those who do not live opera as part of their everyday lives, but who, as citizens of Barcelona and Catalonia, wish to get closer to this institution so important to the cultural life of this country.
Place: Theatre
Schedule: 10.00 to 18.00
The archives of the Liceu in the Foyer
In celebration of the European Opera Days, the Liceu opens the theatre's archives to all opera lovers. On 9 May, throughout the whole day in the Foyer of the Theatre, people can watch two of the most popular performances of the last seasons: L’elisir d’amore and Tosca. Between the screening of these two operas, a summary of all artistic activity of the 2008-2009 season (concerts, opera performances, chamber music concerts in the foyer and children’s sessions) will be shown.
Place: Foyer of the Theatre
Schedule: 10.30 and 15.30
The Liceu and young singers
In collaboration with the music conservatories in Barcelona, some of their most talented singing students will prepare short programmes to be performed in one of the Foyers of the Theatre. Thus, during the entire day, live music in the theatre will accompany the visitors.
Place: Mirror’s Hall (Foyer 1st floor)
Schedule: 11.00 to 18.00
The Liceu travels with you
On screens scattered throughout the metro network of Barcelona, different images of the artistic activity of the last seasons will be shown, as well as fragments of the productions of the Liceu. Two short live recitals by young opera singers will also happen during the day in two stations.
Via this activity, the Liceu crosses the bridges to society, opera being present all day long in the Barcelona metro.
Place: Metro network of Barcelona
Schedule: 5.00 to 00.00
