This year marks a new and important chapter in Premio Roma Danza’s history with the launch of the “1st International Choreographic Competition” and from 2011 the Premio Roma Danza will alternate each year the dance competition wit the choreographic one.
Premio Roma Danza is organized by the Italian National Dance Academy and ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival, in collaboration with the Washington Ballet and the Arena of Verona Foundation, and with the support of the National Dance Academy Foundation of Rome. The competition is under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic and is supported by the Ministries of Instruction and Culture. Official sponsors are Roma Formula Futuro and Fausto Maria Franchi.
Competition is open to choreographers of all ages and from all nationalities. Further more no limits or no specific conditions are on choreographic gender, style and body language.
Beside the monetary prizes, the most talented participants will be awarded with other benefits, offered by competition’s partners: ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival, Washington Ballet and Arena of Verona Foundation.
The Grand Theatre at the Italian National Dance Academy of Rome will host the 40 choreographers – admitted to the competition after a pre-selection – and their performers. The competition will close on 6th July with the Winners Grand Gala.
