PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY RETURNS TO LINCOLN CENTER MARCH 5 – 24, 2013

WITH WORLD PREMIERE & NEW YORK PREMIERE. THREE-WEEK ENGAGEMENT FEATURES SEVEN DECADES OF TAYLOR GREATNESS REPERTOIRE OF 21 DANCES INCLUDES THREE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE SIX TAYLOR/BACH MASTERWORKS, FROM “JUNCTION’ TO “PROMETHEAN FIRE”

REVIVAL OF TAYLOR’S “LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS (THE REHEARSAL)” ON 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF LANDMARK STRAVINSKY/NIJINSKY COLLABORATION OPENING NIGHT BLACK TIE GALA ON THE KOCH PROMENADE TAYLOR “TAKING IT TO THE STREETS”.

The Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to the David H. Koch Theater for its 2013 New York Season from March 5th through the 24th following a record-shattering inaugural Season at Lincoln Center in 2012. The Season celebrates Paul Taylor’s masterworks spanning seven decades, from the 1950s through today.

It will feature the New York premiere of To Make Crops Grow, set to music by Ferde Grofé, and the World Premiere of Taylor’s 138th dance; the revival of Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rehearsal) 100 years after the premiere of the original Sacre; and three landmark celebrations – the 50th anniversary of Scudorama, and the 25th anniversaries of the exuberant Brandenburgs and Emmy Award-winning Speaking in Tongues.

Paul Taylor Dance Company in “Esplanade”

A special celebration of the two 25th Anniversary pieces will take place on March 6, when every seat in the house will cost just $5. Tickets for this special performance will go on sale the week of January 21, 2013 at Taylor pop-up ticket shops throughout Manhattan. Locations will be announced on January 14, 2013 on the Paul Taylor website (www.ptdc.org), Facebook and Twitter.

The magnificent result of one of the great artistic “collaborations” in history, every program this Season will feature one of the dance maker’s six masterworks set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach; Junction, Brandenburgs, Esplanade, Musical Offering, Cascade and Promethean Fire.

For the Opening Night Gala Performance and Dinner at the Koch Theater on March 5, with a new starting time of 6:30 p.m., tickets are $750, $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 (please call 646.214.5815 or visit www.ptdc.org/gala); regular price tickets for the performance only are also available. Following opening night, the Company’s performances are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm. Ticket prices for all performances except March 6 are $10, $30, $55, $80, $110 and $160 (visit www.ptdc.org/tickets). Premium $160 seats include an invitation to the Patrons Lounge.

The Company’s 2013 repertoire includes 3 Epitaphs (1956), Beloved Renegade (2008), Brandenburgs (1988), Cascade (1999), Company B (1991), Esplanade (1975), Eventide (1997), Gossamer Gallants (2011), Junction (1961) Kith and Kin (1987), Last Look (1985), Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rehearsal) (1980), Lost, Found and Lost (1982), To Make Crops Grow (2012), Musical Offering (1986), Offenbach Overtures (1995), Promethean Fire (2002), Scudorama (1963), Speaking in Tongues (1988), The Uncommitted (2011), and one new, yet to be titled work. MetLife Foundation is the Official Tour Sponsor of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Major funding for the 2013 Season is provided by The SHS Foundation and the Board of Trustees and Friends of the Paul Taylor Dance Foundation. Support is also provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

About the Paul Taylor Dance Company:
The world-renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company sets the global standard for contemporary dance excellence. Since the company’s founding in 1954, Mr. Taylor has choreographed 136 dances, many of which have attained iconic status and have been celebrated throughout the world.
