PERIDANCE CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANY, under the direction of Igal Perry, will return to the New York stage in May with its first major season since 2006, presenting a diverse repertory that includes the debut of new works created especially for the season by Igal Perry and NYC-based guest choreographers Kristin Sudeikis and Sidra Bell.
Included in the season will be Igal’s El Amor Brujo, recently premiered in Washington DC in collaboration with the PostClassical Ensemble, which performed De Falla’s magnificent score live.
The Sunday May 6 matinee features a different program entitled Afternoon in Spain, and has Peridance Contemporary Dance Company joined by renowned Flamenco artists, produced in collaboration with the Spanish Consulate.
New York showings of excerpts from El Amor Brujo have inspired such remarks as
«really touched my heart» (Karen Shapiro, bodywrappers.com, January 2012), and
«gorgeous….a must-see» (Philip Gardner, oberonsgrove, January 2012).
