THE QUEEN OF THE NETHERLANDS WITH THE ROYAL CONCERTGEBOUW ORCHESTRA

A ROYAL COMMAND PERFORMANCE FOR H.M. THE QUEEN OF THE NETHERLANDS WITH THE ROYAL CONCERTGEBOUW ORCHESTRA, MARISS JANSONS AND JANINE JANSEN.

This Royal Command Performance is by way of thanks for the reception Queen Beatrix has received during her state visit to Germany from 12 to 15 April.

By command of Her Majesty Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will give a concert in the Philharmonie in Berlin this Wednesday (8 pm Berlin time) which will be broadcast free of charge on the Internet. Classical music fans can watch the concert live at www.digital-concert-hall.com, the video platform of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The conductor is the Latvian-born Mariss Jansons, chief conductor of the Amsterdam orchestra; the evening’s soloist is the Dutch violinist Janine Jansen. The programme includes Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and the Fourth Symphony by Johannes Brahms.

This Royal Command Performance is by way of thanks for the reception Queen Beatrix has received during her state visit to Germany from 12 to 15 April. On the evening of the concert, she will be accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima of the Nether-lands, and also by the German President Christian Wulff and his wife Bettina. This will be the second state visit to Germany by Queen Beatrix, and the first since reunification.

The Digital Concert Hall is the virtual concert venue of the Berliner Philharmoniker on the Internet. At www.digital-concert-hall.com the orchestra’s Berlin concerts are broadcast live, and are available as video streams in a video archive within a few days. Working in partnership wit the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1989, Deutsche Bank exclusively supports the Digital Concert Hall, and enables the education programme “Zukunft@BPhil”.
