The World’s largest student ballet scholarship competition and festival – YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX – will celebrate its 2012 season with three spectacular performances at David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center on April 26-28, 2012.  Regular tickets for these events are available at the David H. Koch Theater Box Office, at www.davidhkochtheater.com, or by calling 212.496.0600.

Each year, over 5,000 talented young dance students audition at semi-final rounds conducted by YAGP around the globe.  Only 300 of the most promising young dancers representing 30 countries on 5 continents are chosen for the New York City Finals. Open to the general public for only the fourth time, the FINAL ROUND will give audiences a unique opportunity to see 60 of the world’s best young dancers before they disperse to study on scholarship at the world’s leading dance academies (over $250,000 in scholarships are presented annually at YAGP).  Tickets are $25 and $45.

The annually sold-out YAGP Galas have become synonymous with the discovery of new dancers, choreographers, and companies. The unique format of the Gala, featuring the performances of international ballet stars and introducing the world’s brightest young dance talent quickly became an audience favorite and, according to the late Clive Barnes of the New York Post, “the highlight of the New York ballet season.” The 2012 Celebration Gala will star some of the world’s leading dancers including Tamara Rojo (The Royal Ballet), in a rare New York City appearance, Sergei Polunin (YAGP Alumnus, formally of The Royal Ballet) and Friedemann Vogel (NEW YORK DEBUT, Stuttgart Ballet). Plus many other dancers to be announced from American Ballet Theatre, Dutch National Ballet, New York City Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, among others. As part of YAGP’s “Emerging Choreographer Series”, New York City Ballet Corps de Ballet dancer, Justin Peck will choreograph a world premiere for Teresa Reichlen (New York City Ballet) and Matthew Golding (YAGP Alumnus, Dutch National Ballet). Kenneth E. Gordon has generously underwritten this choreographic commission. PERFORMANCE Tickets are $45-$150. PATRON TICKETS AND TABLES include prime performance seats and the “Dance with the Dancers” Dinner on the David H. Koch Theater Promenade: $500, $1,000, $1,500, $2,500 for patron tickets; and $10,000, $15,000, $25,000 and $50,000 for tables of ten. Corporate and Artists Sponsorship packages available. Please call 646.370.3764 or visit www.yagp.org.

As part of its “Legends in Dance” series, YAGP presents a gala tribute to the incomparable Natalia Makarova. The evening will include performances by dancers including Marcelo Gomes (American Ballet Theatre), Natalia Osipova (American Ballet Theatre/Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg), Yuan Yuan Tan (San Francisco Ballet), Ivan Vasiliev (American Ballet Theatre/Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg) and Diana Vishneva (American Ballet Theatre/Mariinsky Ballet) who will perform her most iconic roles. Many others performers to be announced from the world’s leading dance companies, including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, and The Royal Ballet. Ms. Makarova will narrate the performance reflecting on her experience as a dancer and rare archival video footage of her will be shared. Do not miss this historic evening of dance. PERFORMANCE TICKETS are $45-$150. PATRON TICKETS include prime performance seats and post-performance reception with Makarova: $750. Information regarding Reserved Tables and Artist Sponsorships available upon request. Please call 646.370.3764 or visit www.yagp.org.

is America’s first and the world’s largest student ballet scholarship competition, founded in 1999 by two former Bolshoi Ballet dancers, Larissa and Gennadi Saveliev. Conducted through annual regional competitions throughout the U.S. and abroad (Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and Italy), YAGP is the “internet of the dance world,” a global network of opportunity connecting dancers, teachers, schools and companies all over the globe. Each year, YAGP culminates with a Final Round in New York City and a Gala performance. This year we have moved to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center to accommodate greater audience demand. Since its inception, 25,000 young dancers have participated in YAGP worldwide competitions and workshops, over $2 million dollars have been awarded in scholarships to the world’s leading dance schools, and over 250 YAGP Alumni are now dancing with some 50 companies around the globe, including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg, and many others.

YAGP 2012 Season is sponsored by Bloch, Capezio, Dance Magazine, Dance Europe Magazine, Dance Teacher Magazine, Dance Spirit Magazine, Discount Dance Supply, Grishko, Pointe Magazine, Russian Pointe, SoDanca, and Sylvia Co.
