“La Sylphide” is an absolute symbol of romantic ballet. In this very production a ballet dancer Maria Taglioni was the first artist to dance on toes (“not for effect but for the sake of imaginative tasks”). Taglioni’s heroine really seemed to be miraculous creature, not a woman but a ghost who violated the laws of the earth gravity.
