Premiere. “La Sylphide”, choreography, stage design and costumes by Pierre Lacotte
“La Sylphide” is an absolute symbol of romantic ballet. In this very production a ballet dancer Maria Taglioni was the first artist to dance on toes (“not for effect but for the sake of imaginative tasks”). Taglioni’s heroine really seemed to be miraculous creature, not a woman but a ghost who violated the laws of the earth gravity.

THE HAMBURG BALLET’s tours until summer 2012: Leverkusen, Essen, Moscow, Brisbane
This Tuesday night THE HAMBURG BALLET kicks off a short tour to the West of Germany with a performance of Saint Matthew Passion in Leverkusen. The second stop of the tour will be Essen. A longer tour to Moscow will follow in May.

New York, NY—Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) presents “Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow” on Friday, April 27 at 7:00 PM at David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. This annual event has become synonymous with the discovery of new dancers, choreographers, and companies, featuring the performances of international ballet stars and introducing the world’s brightest young dance talent — finalists from the 2012 competition.

El director general de la institución, Joan-Francesc Marco, junto a su director artístico, Joan Matabosch, han presentado la nueva temporada 2012-2013, en el día de hoy. 15 títulos de ópera con debuts de grandes voces internacionales y directores de orquesta y de escena y novedades para la historia del Liceu; 4 ballets de grandes compañías internacionales con diversidad de programas y de estética y 4 conciertos con solistas y 6 conciertos fuera del Liceu (Palau y Auditori) de primer nivel.
Destaca el debut en el Liceu del mítico American Ballet Theatre, además del Ballet del Teatre Nacional de Praga, el Ballet de Dusseldorf y el Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
