She won the Gold Medal at Varna IBC in 1992 and was the recipient of French Prix du Cercle Carpeaux in 1993.  In 2001, she received the prestigious Benois de la Danse prize and was named a French National Officer in the Order of Arts and Letters.

Manuel Legris is one of the few legendary ballet stars still performing today.  In 1986, he was named "Etoile" by Rudolf Nureyev on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. He has performed as a guest artist with the Royal Ballet, New York City Ballet, the National Ballet of Cuba, the Tokyo Ballet, the Monte Carlo Ballet, and Stuttgart Ballet, among many others. His numerous honors and awards include the Nijinsky Prize, the LÈonide Massine Prize, and the induction as the French National Officer in the Order of Arts and Letters.

“We are thrilled to present such an amazing array of talent led by the incomparable Aurelie Dupont and Manuel Legris,” says Founder and Artistic Director of YAGP, Larissa Saveliev. “These international ballet superstars have not performed in New York in a long time, and we are honored that they chose Youth America Grand Prix as a deserving venue to return to New York and share their artistry with the New York audiences. We are also proud to present two New York debuts: Stuttgart Ballet’s leading principals, Alicia Amatriain and Jason Reilly; and the preeminent Brazilian mega-star, Cecilia Kerche, who is extremely popular in Latin America and is one of Natalia Makarova’s favorite ballerinas.” Also on the boards are two World Premieres: Benjamin Millepied’s piece for ABT Principal, David Hallberg, and a YAGP alumna, Isabella Boylston (ABT); and Dwight Rhoden’s “Choke” for company members of Complexions Contemporary Ballet.

The Co-Founder of YAGP (currently soloist with ABT), Gennadi Saveliev, adds, “The YAGP Gala not only gives a chance to marvel at the world’s leading ballet stars rarely seen in New York, but it also presents an unprecedented opportunity to see the best young dance talent from all over the globe.  The winners of the competition – as well as the two YAGP alumni on this year’s Gala program who are now professional ballet artists – represent the future of ballet.”

Youth America Grand Prix is America’s first student ballet scholarship competition, founded in 1999 by two former Bolshoi Ballet dancers, Larissa and Gennadi Saveliev.  In only 8 years it has become the world’s largest student ballet competition. The competition and its workshops are open to students of all nationalities ages 9-19.  Conducted annually throughout the United States and abroad (Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and Italy in 2008), YAGP is the “internet of the dance world,” a global network of opportunity connecting dancers, teachers, schools and companies all over the globe.  Each year, YAGP culminates with a Final Round in New York City and a Gala performance at NY City Center.

Since its inception, Youth America Grand Prix has become an important part of New York City’s cultural life.  It has grown into an internationally known annual meeting place for dance students and professionals. It is endorsed by the UNESCO, NYC Mayors Bloomberg and Giuliani, NY State Senator Hillary Clinton, and state governments throughout the world.
