Battery Dance Company announces its 28th Annual DOWNTOWN DANCE FESTIVAL with 7 days of free performances by 21 dance companies from the U.S., India, and the Republic of Georgia. Five week-day programs will take place August 17-21, 12 noon to 2 PM, at Chase Plaza.

Ballet de la Ópera de Munich
El 31 de julio y el 1 de agosto la compañía interpretará Eugeni Oneguin, con música de Tchaikovsky y coreografía de John Cranko.
Los próximos 2 y 3 de agosto el Ballet de la Ópera de Munich ofrecerá un programa contemporáneo con coreografías de Simone Sandroni, Hans Van Manen y Martín Schlappfer y música de Bach, Beethoven y Gubaidulna. La guipuzcoana Lucía Lacarra, una de las principales figuras del Ballet de la Ópera de Munich, ha sufrido una lesión en su rodilla izquierda que le impedirá actuar como estaba previsto. Será sustituida porla primera bailarina del ballet Roberta Fernandes.

El famoso coreógrafo y bailarín estadounidense Merce Cunningham, falleció a los 90 años en su casa de Nueva York por casuas naturales.

Choreographer Angel Corella has announced the U.S. debut of Corella Ballet Castilla y León, March 17 – 20 at New York City Center.
Ballet Hispanico at The Joyce Theater
Ballet Hispanico, recognized as the preeminent Hispanic-American dance institution in the United States, presents its annual New York season at The Joyce Theater December 1 – 13, 2009.
The season marks the company’s first New York engagement under the leadership of Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro, who takes the reigns from Founding Artistic Director Tina Ramirez this summer after 38 years.

Se ha puesto a la venta el Abono Conjunto de Danza 2009-2010 con propuestas del Gran Teatro del Liceo, el Teatro Nacional de Catalunya, el Mercat de les Flors y el Teatre Lliure.
El abono para esta temporada presenta una novedad respecto a años anteriores, ya que desde el inicio de su venta se podrá optar por adquirir el abono incluyendo 7 espectáculos de todos los teatros implicados a un precio total de 150 euros, o bien excluir el espectáculo que ofrece el Gran Teatro del Liceo.

Eonnagata, una pieza de danza teatro concebido por el director Robert Lepage junto a el coreógrafo Russell Maliphant y la bailarina Sylvie Guillem.
Una obra rara y fascinante donde sus protagonistas Lepage, Guillem y Maliphant detallan durante 1 hora y 20, y de manera lineal y perfecta, una historia transgresora y extraña.
