John Neumeier, Artistic Director of THE HAMBURG BALLET, presented the company’s 2011/2012 programme at the annual press conference of the Hamburgische Staatsoper’s new season last week, along with Simone Young, Artistic Director of the Hamburg State Opera.

ABE ABRAHAM'S NEW DANCE FILM
From filmmaker/choreographer Abe Abraham is the exquisite new "Wind and Tree," a movement study created expressly for film and inspired by Pulitzer Prize winning poet Paul Muldoon. 5 showings, May 15 & 16 at the Tribeca Screening Room, 375 Greenwich Street.
Featured artists include : Megumi Eda, formerly with the Maksuyama Ballet Company in Tokyo, the Hamburg Ballet, the Dutch National Ballet, and the Rambert Ballet. In the U.S., Ms. Eda received a Bessie Award in 2004 for her performance in Karole Armitage's "Time is the echo of an axe within the wood."

Inaugural season of BOSTON INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION

Exceptional dancers, ages 13 to 25, from 23 countries around the world, will "go for the gold" before a panel of internationally renowned dance figures in the first Boston International Ballet Competition (BIBC), May 12-16 at John Hancock Hall, Boston, Ma. Awards include cash prizes and scholarships to ballet schools and companies in the U.S. and abroad.
Canal 22 presenta el tercer episodio de “Ópera Prima en Movimiento”. Con los detalles de la clase magistral impartida por Julio Bocca y la primera gala de los bailarines.
Tras una semana de largos ensayos y clases especiales, los participantes están listos para su primera prueba como participantes de Ópera Prima en Movimiento en la primera gala en donde interpretarán un pas de deux de algunas de las obras clásicas del ballet. Esta semana el jurado calificador está integrado por Julio Bocca, Natasha Lagunas, maestra repositora de la Compañía Nacional de Danza; el bailarín español Arcadio Carbonell y la bailarina retirada Katia Robledo.
