Youth America Grand Prix Documentary First Position

YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP) – the world’s largest international ballet education initiative –begins its 2011-2012 season with the premiere of its new documentary, “First Position” at the 36th annual Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, September 11th. There will be an additonal screening on Saturday, September 17th.

“First Position” is a feature length documentary (90 mins) that follows six extremely dedicated young dancers (ages 10 – 19) from North and South America, Asia and Europe as they prepare for the largest youth ballet competition in the world, the YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP).

A year of celebrations in store as 2012 season announced

The Australian Ballet has launched a blockbuster program to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2012.Revealing the season repertoire in Melbourne today, Artistic Director David McAllister announced new commissions – including a traditional Swan Lake – along with classic revivals of audience favourites, an all-Australian dance party and a special international gala.

“Over 50 years, the company has developed a dynamic and unique style, and I’m so proud to have so many Australian choreographers featured in such a historic year,” said McAllister.

Birmingham Royal Ballet is delighted to return to the Birmingham Hippodrome stage from 28 September – 8 October. The Company will perform their autumn season in its home town with two programmes, David Bintley’s gothic fairytale Beauty and the Beast, and a mixed bill Autumn Glory.

The Board of the Fondation en faveur de l'Art chorégraphique is delighted to announce the appointment of Amanda Bennett as Artistic Director of the Prix de Lausanne from January 1, 2012. Amanda Bennett is currently the Principal of the Ballettschule Theater Basel, a position that she will continue to hold, dividing her time between Lausanne and Basle.

La muestra se inicia con una breve mención de la primera época de formación de Anglada-Camarasa en Cataluña. En 1894 viaja a París, donde prosigue su formación. Allí bebe de la influencia del simbolismo, que abandona muy pronto para tomar su propio camino. La insistencia sobre un mismo motivo será un rasgo característico en la obra del artista, que vuelve una y otra vez sobre una imagen, hasta lograr la representación deseada.

EL TEATRO REAL ESTRENA SU TEMPORADA 11/12 CON LA BELLE, DE LES BALLETS DE MONTE-CARLO

La historia, inspirada en La bella durmiente del bosque, de Perrault, recupera todo su simbolismo y se convierte en un ballet para adultos. La revisión contemporánea de este clásico ha convertido esta coreografía en uno de los emblemas de la compañía.

La Belle estará en escena los días 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 y 11 de septiembre.

Bolshoi Theatre – Reconstruction and Renovation

Historic building of the Bolshoi Theatre is closed for renovation from July 2, 2005 and will open in 2011.

The exterior of the building will remain nearly the same. The extensions along the Northern Facade that were previously used as scenery storage will be removed. The storage will be moved underground to allow for proper restoration of the rear faзade.

Number of the best construction companies from Moscow and abroad will take part in the renovation. The German company Bosch Rexroth, one of world's leaders in the field, has won the bid to supply the stage equipment for the Bolshoi.
