Francisco José García Verdú (1996) y natural de Alicante (Elche), ha conseguido hoy el Primer Premio Loewe-Hazen de la Categoría Infantil del XV Concurso de Piano Infanta Cristina, que organizan las Fundaciones Loewe y Hazen Hosseschrueders en la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando de Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 13).

Russia’s Mariinsky Ballet coming to Toronto


The Mariinsky Ballet, the famous Russian ballet troupe once known as the Kirov, is to perform in Toronto in March 2011.

The Mariinsky Ballet is scheduled to perform at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, now under construction but scheduled to reopen in October 2010.

In a scenery of Indian temples and palaces the story of a true, but forbidden love is told: Nikia, the ‘bayadere’ or Indian temple dancer, who dedicated her life to the gods, loves the noble warrior Solor, who himself is already promised since his childhood as bridegroom to the beautiful daughter of the Rajah, Hamsatti. Undergone by intriques and submitted to the strict laws of tradition, the love between Nikia and Solor cannot come to a happy ending.

Dancers Over 40 continues its fascinating series of tributes to Broadway dance greats with Michael Bennett: A Joyful Noise, featuring an impressive roster of Broadway veterans who worked with the great choreographer/director, Monday May 17th at 8 PM, St. Luke's Theater.

Dancers Over 40 has gathered a group of members and their friends who performed with and for Bennett in shows throughout the 60's and 70's (one DO40 member knew Bennett in Buffalo from the time they were 5 years old and danced on the local Buffalo teen dance show when they were 12 – choreographed by Bennett)!
