Paloma Herrera to Celebrate 20th Anniversary with ABT on Saturday Evening, June 18.
The season’s performances of Alexei Ratmansky’s The Bright Stream will continue on Monday, June 13, led by Paloma Herrera, Marcelo Gomes, Gillian Murphy and David Hallberg.
Casting for the fifth and sixth weeks of American Ballet Theatre’s 2011 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

Inspirado libremente en La Divina Comedia del Dante, Giacomo Puccini busca representar el infierno junto a Il Tabarro, el purgatorio con Suor Angélica y el paraíso de la mano de Gianni Schicchi.

The Centre Pompidou will present an unprecedented exhibition devoted to the relationship between dance and the visual arts, from 1900 to the present. Covering over 2,000 square metres, the exhibition draws on the Centre’s tradition of major multidisciplinary shows, a tradition its president Alain Seban has said he wishes to revive. Both original and prolific, the theme will be explored through works by the greatest artistic figures of the 20th century, the contributions of the founding movements of artistic modernism, and the current explorations of important contemporary artists and dancers.
L’Inde vue par des artistes indiens et français

Du 25 mai au 19 septembre 2011 le Centre Pompidou présente en Galerie 1 Paris-Delhi-Bombay…, une grande exposition qui invite à découvrir la société indienne contemporaine à travers les regards croisés d’artistes plasticiens indiens et français. Fondé sur une collaboration inédite entre l’Inde et la France, cet événement a pour ambition de générer des échanges et de tisser des liens durables entre les deux cultures.
El Ballet de la Ópera de París ha incorporado a su repertorio “Rain” de la coreógrafa belga Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, una de sus obras “mayores”, estrenada con su compañía Rosas en 2001, sobre “Music for eighteen musicians” (1976), partitura minimalista de Steve Reich, a la que el compositor considera una de sus “mejores piezas”.
La relación de Keersmaeker con Reich ha sido intensa. Su primera obra, “Fase”, remitía al compositor norteamericano.

Inspiré par l’oeuvre de Francis Bacon, Wayne McGregor crée une nouvelle chorégraphie pour le Ballet de l’Opéra. Interrogeant les possibilités physiques de ses interprètes, qu’il pousse à l’extrême, il trouve dans les oeuvres du peintre une résonance avec sa propre recherche chorégraphique.

José Limón, fundador de la técnica, encontró su propio lenguaje y comenzó a divulgarlo a través de la enseñanza a diversas generaciones.
La danza es un arte vivo, está en constante cambio… las formas siguen modificándose, se nutren de otras representaciones para generar movimientos colmados de expresión; así se han desarrollado infinidad de estilos, así fue como José Limón (1908-1972) encontró su propio lenguaje y comenzó a divulgarlo a través de la enseñanza a diversas generaciones que encontraron en su estructura el método ideal para permitirle al cuerpo hablar.
Roland Petit’s Carmen with Le Jeune Homme et La Mort and L’Arlesienne
English National Ballet’s Roland Petit programme is at the London Coliseum in July. Carmen, Petit’s more popular work, exploded into the decorous world of British Ballet at its premiere in 1949 with ballet lovers shocked by the sexually voracious choreography and music lovers by the daring arrangement of Bizet’s electrifying score.
