Claude Debussy est sans conteste le compositeur du tournant du XIXe siècle qui trouva l'essentiel de son inspiration dans le domaine de la poésie contemporaine et des arts visuels. D'emblée, il s'intéressa aux artistes les plus novateurs, aux figures les plus en marge des académismes en cours.

Cette exposition est organisée par l'Établissement public des musées d’Orsay et de l’Orangerie et par la FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE En collaboration avec la FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE de Madrid, le musée de l’Orangerie présente une exposition consacrée à la peinture espagnole à la charnière des XIXe et XXe siècles. Cette période, que quelques expositions ont exhumée, demeure encore aujourd’hui peu connue du public.

Felizmente, el festival Les Étés de la Danse de este año no ha terminado. Luego de la presentación del Miami City Ballet durante el mes de julio, el Palais de Chaillot de París acoge a Mikhail Baryshnikov (quien junto a Ana Laguna también había sido huésped de Los Étes de la Danse, el pasado año en el Teatro de la Ville) en la obra teatral “In Paris”, una adaptación y puesta en escena de Dmitry Krymov (con su Dmitry Krymov Laboratory, en co-producción con el Baryhsnikov Arts Center, en asociación con el Teatro Koorjamo de Finlandia) sobre un cuento (1940) del escritor ruso Iván Bunin, premio Nobel en 1933.

Melissa Allen Bowman, a former dancer with American Ballet Theatre and current artistic director of ABT’s Summer Intensives, has been named Assistant Principal of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre. Her appointment, effective September 1, 2011, was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.
American Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker will return to the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House beginning December 14, 2011, it was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. The holiday classic will be given 22 performances through December 31 at BAM. Tickets go on sale Monday, September 12, 2011.

YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP) – the world’s largest international ballet education initiative –begins its 2011-2012 season with the premiere of its new documentary, “First Position” at the 36th annual Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, September 11th. There will be an additonal screening on Saturday, September 17th.
“First Position” is a feature length documentary (90 mins) that follows six extremely dedicated young dancers (ages 10 – 19) from North and South America, Asia and Europe as they prepare for the largest youth ballet competition in the world, the YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP).

A year of celebrations in store as 2012 season announced
The Australian Ballet has launched a blockbuster program to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2012.Revealing the season repertoire in Melbourne today, Artistic Director David McAllister announced new commissions – including a traditional Swan Lake – along with classic revivals of audience favourites, an all-Australian dance party and a special international gala.
“Over 50 years, the company has developed a dynamic and unique style, and I’m so proud to have so many Australian choreographers featured in such a historic year,” said McAllister.
