DEBORAH  ZALL  PERFORMS  ANNA  SOKOLOW’S  SOLO  ‘KADDISH’  AND  SETS  IT  FOR  AN  ENSEMBLE  OF TEN  AT  THE  24TH  ANNUAL  NEW  YORK  STATE  SUMMER  SCHOOL  OF  THE  ARTS.

Deborah Zall left the Martha Graham fold to pursue an independent career as a soloist, creating dramatic portrayals of women. As guest artist, Miss Zall performed at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, Cannes Festival and Biennial de la Dance in France, Contempo Tanz in Guatemala, South Bank Center, The Place in London and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts.

James Whiteside to join American Ballet Theatre


JAMES WHITESIDE TO JOIN AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE AS SOLOIST

James Whiteside, formerly a principal dancer with Boston Ballet, will join American Ballet Theatre as a Soloist in September 2012.  It was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, Whiteside began his training at age nine at the D’Valda & Sirico Dance and Music Centre, where guest faculty included Franco De Vita and Raymond Lukens. He continued his training at the Virginia School of the Arts for one year under the direction of Petrus Bosman and David Keener.

45th GRADUATION SEASON FOR NEW ZEALAND SCHOOL OF DANCE

 

The annual tradition that is the New Zealand School of Dance Graduation Season takes on more significance this year as the school celebrates its 45th anniversary.

This end of year performance, designed to display the full range of the school’s talent, highlights students from the New Zealand School of Dance, some of whom will likely be the soloists and principals of the near future. For audiences, the Graduation Season is an excellent opportunity to see these accomplished dancers and to sample the best of classical ballet and contemporary choreography from well-known and critically acclaimed choreographers.

50th anniversary of The Australian Ballet


Funding for Production Centre

On 7 June 2012 it was announced that to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Australian Ballet, the Federal Government is contributing $2 million for the fit-out of the company’s new production centre to be built in Altona, Melbourne. Federal Arts Minister Simon Crean said the centre will be a state-of-the art facility for the creation, maintenance and storage of the scenery, props, lighting and costumes for the company’s productions.

El Lago de los cines por el Ballet de Moscú

El Ballet de Moscú suma éxitos en Barcelona.

El Ballet de Moscú, creado en 1989 por Timur Fayziev, estrenó en el Teatro Coliseum de Barcelona dos obras clásicas; El Lago de los Cisnes y La Bella Durmiente, con coreografía de Marius Petipa, música de Tchaikovsky y protagonizadas en esta ocasión por los bailarines solistas Cristina y Alexei Terentiev.

Desde hace 23 años que estas piezas forman parte del repertorio del Ballet de Moscú siendo representadas en distintas ciudades del mundo con mucha aceptación por parte de la critica y del público.
