ZUBIN MEHTA Y LA ORQUESTA DEL MAGGIO MUSICALE FIORENTINO CONMEMORARÁN EN CHILE  EL ANIVERSARIO 500 DE LA MUERTE DE AMÉRICO VESPUCIO.

Han pasado 500 años desde que murió el hombre que le dio el nombre al continente americano, aquel navegante florentino que viajó y dibujó por primera vez ese “nuevo mundo” descubierto por Colón en 1492. El Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino ha querido celebrar en grande el aniversario del fallecimiento de Américo Vespucio (1454-1512), reeditando ese viaje desde la Europa meridional a América con su Orquesta, comandada por el gran maestro Zubin Mehta.

Gira sudamericana del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

La Orquesta del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino realizará con  motivo de de las celebraciones del 500º Aniversario de la muerte de Amerigo Vespucci (1454-1512) una gira de conciertos por Sudamérica. Están previstos once conciertos en seis ciudades diferentes de Chile, Uruguay, Argentina y Brasil, siempre con la dirección del maestro Zubin Mehta.

Apreciada tanto por la audiencia internacional, como por los más importantes directores del mundo, la Orquesta del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino es una de las más famosas y representativas agrupaciones musicales de Italia.

DEBORAH  ZALL  PERFORMS  ANNA  SOKOLOW’S  SOLO  ‘KADDISH’  AND  SETS  IT  FOR  AN  ENSEMBLE  OF TEN  AT  THE  24TH  ANNUAL  NEW  YORK  STATE  SUMMER  SCHOOL  OF  THE  ARTS.

Free Admission for both concerts!

Deborah Zall left the Martha Graham fold to pursue an independent career as a soloist, creating dramatic portrayals of women. As guest artist, Miss Zall performed at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, Cannes Festival and Biennial de la Dance in France, Contempo Tanz in Guatemala, South Bank Center, The Place in London and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts.

James Whiteside to join American Ballet Theatre


JAMES WHITESIDE TO JOIN AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE AS SOLOIST

James Whiteside, formerly a principal dancer with Boston Ballet, will join American Ballet Theatre as a Soloist in September 2012.  It was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, Whiteside began his training at age nine at the D’Valda & Sirico Dance and Music Centre, where guest faculty included Franco De Vita and Raymond Lukens. He continued his training at the Virginia School of the Arts for one year under the direction of Petrus Bosman and David Keener.

45th GRADUATION SEASON FOR NEW ZEALAND SCHOOL OF DANCE

 

The annual tradition that is the New Zealand School of Dance Graduation Season takes on more significance this year as the school celebrates its 45th anniversary.

This end of year performance, designed to display the full range of the school’s talent, highlights students from the New Zealand School of Dance, some of whom will likely be the soloists and principals of the near future. For audiences, the Graduation Season is an excellent opportunity to see these accomplished dancers and to sample the best of classical ballet and contemporary choreography from well-known and critically acclaimed choreographers.

50th anniversary of The Australian Ballet


Funding for Production Centre

On 7 June 2012 it was announced that to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Australian Ballet, the Federal Government is contributing $2 million for the fit-out of the company’s new production centre to be built in Altona, Melbourne. Federal Arts Minister Simon Crean said the centre will be a state-of-the art facility for the creation, maintenance and storage of the scenery, props, lighting and costumes for the company’s productions.

Boris Charmatz – Flip book

In his latest project, Flip book, the French choreographer Boris Charmatz is using the work of Merce Cunningham, the great American master of postmodern dance. The starting point for this piece is David Vaughn’s book Merce Cunningham: Fifty Years, containing photos and drawings of all his creations and portraits of him and his dancers too.
