A founding member of the company announces his retirement
Colin Peasley OAM, a founding dancer of The Australian Ballet and its longest serving member, has announced his retirement from the company after a phenomenal career of 50 years.
In his latest project, Flip book, the French choreographer Boris Charmatz is using the work of Merce Cunningham, the great American master of postmodern dance. The starting point for this piece is David Vaughn’s book Merce Cunningham: Fifty Years, containing photos and drawings of all his creations and portraits of him and his dancers too.

Derek Deane’s Swan Lake makes a welcome return to the Coliseum for ten performances only during Summer 2012, offering visitors to London the chance to see this five star reviewed production.

Reportaje de la ópera de Donizetti, Linda de Chamounix, en el Liceu. La producción cuenta con un reparto de lujo formado por dos estrellas de la lírica actual: la soprano alemana Diana Damrau y el tenor peruano Juan Diego Flórez. La dirección musical corre a cargo de Marco Armiliato mientras que la dirección escénica es de Emilio Sagi.
El Teatro de la Maestranza presenta la temporada 2012-2013 con una programación variada y de gran calidad. Títulos como Thaïs, Sigfrido o Rigoletto integran el Ciclo de Ópera, que se amplía a seis títulos.

Smuin Ballet (Celia Fushille, Artistic & Executive Director) will perform a special New York City engagement this summer, August 13th – 18th, 2012 at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue (at 19th Street).
The acclaimed company is returning to the Joyce with its signature bold, sexy, and innovative dance. The performances will include: founder Michael Smuin’s Medea, a powerfully hypnotic work created during his tenure as artistic director of San Francisco Ballet; and the New York premieres of Oh, Inverted World, by Trey McIntryre set to music by indie-rock band The Shins; and Soon These Two Worlds, an effervescent ballet by Choreographer in Residence Amy Seiwert and set to pulsating music from the Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet’sPieces of Africa.

The US Postal Service will honor José Limón with the release of a USPS Innovative Choreographers Forever postage stamp on July 28th!
José Limón was chosen to be featured on the stamp to honor his contribution to the art of dance, shaping the American Modern Dance movement as both a leading male dancer of his generation and a master choreographer. Limón created over 70 works, many of which have been deemed classics.
